/usr/local/APPCure/bin/ts_ctrl: can't open '/usr/local/APPCure/tmp/ts_status' - Permission denied

Symptoms:

The following message appears when attempting to activate dotDefender from the dotDefender user interface.
/usr/local/APPCure/bin/ts_ctrl: can't open '/usr/local/APPCure/tmp/ts_status' - Permission denied

Cause:

This message occurs in one of the following cases:

  1. Apache has not been restarted after dotDefender installation.
  2. The file /usr/local/APPCure/tmp/ts_status does not have appropriate permissions.
  3. Apache is compiled with suexec and suexec is active.
Resolution:

  1. If suexec is active, please contact support@applicure.com to receive additional configuration instructions.
  2. Restart Apache.
  3. Change the owner of the file /usr/local/APPCure/tmp/ts_status to the user account which runs the httpd (This user is configured in the Apache configuration under the User directive).
